DALT-ers!

These are the suggestions which we have went through last Thursday, please take note of those highlighted one especially!

Approved:
1. PT before moving equipment, won't be in carpark.
2. COMPULSORY morning run as a CCA (Every Monday morning before school, no specific time, but must complete what PT head has come up with.) w.e.f. Week 7 Monday 30 April 2012
3. More bonding time. (We will have breakfast after Monday's morning run and during CCA you all can bond as well.)
4. Have wheels on drums to facilitate movement of drums. (We will have them because of musical and will be permanent.)
5. Debrief can be a bit shorter. (We're working on that, provided you all read your emails!)
6. Buy cupboard. (Considering that, and sorting out the DALT room as well.)
7. Clean window planes (We will clean that during mass cleaning up in June hols)

Not approved/Already in place:
1. Too hot, may go to track or quadrangle for certain training. (By default, training venue is carpark but we're now trying out outdoors like field, provided it doesn't rain!)
2. More games during PT. (PT is supposed to train our stamina, we can have games once in a while but not every time.)
3. Step by step training for LD. (We already have that, but you can tell us if we are too fast or too slow.)
4. Don't wear trackpants. (This is a matter of discipline and we are very strict on this, so all must wear trackpants or CCA.)
5. Start a little earlier. (Not possible because there is remedial till 3.30pm and we will disturb them.)
6. Have more CCA sessions. (You can go Hongkah North CC @ Bukit Gombak - 教练's CC on Saturday afternoon if you think you need more practice or brushing up!)
7. Start and end CCA earlier. (A lot of CCA also ends at 6pm or later so it's not practical for us to end earlier.)
8. Have more equipment. (No budget and no space, please treasure the equipment we have currently and use them wisely.)
9. P.T. to be more routine. (You can feedback to the PT head if you find PT very boring or too easy for you.)
10. Practise lion dance as a whole troupe (We must learn the basics of every section first before coordination.)
11. Train back up (Training in progress! Everyone must put in effort in this!)
12. More attires (We're thinking of another set of attire for drums, please give us feedback and suggestions!)

Other rules that will be put in place:
1. CCA officially ends at 6pm, including debrief but excluding time used to move equipment.
2. Be more efficient, less slack during CCA. (This will need the discipline and coordination of everyone in DALT!)
3. 2.30pm to 3.30pm is remedial time so do not use CCA as an excuse to not go for remedial and come for CCA immediately after remedial.
4. PT head will record the time used to move equipment to and fro DALT room.

5. All must wear skirt or trackpants home, no one (including those who stay in Boarding School) is allowed to wear only shorts home (unless your parents are fetching you in school).6. During drum training, two people carry 2 drums together and see if there're anything else to help out and not just assume that everything is carried out/other people will do them.
7. During any training, if you do not have anything to do, please find something to do and not slack around and chat. (e.g. you want to play 龙乐 but not sure if you can, ask seniors first)

With effect from Week 6 CCA session (26 April 2012)!

That's all for now, there are still 4 more parts to the end of this piece so I will keep updating this post! Keep up the good progession and jiayou! :D
Updated 17 March 2012
This is all for the first part of the whole sequence. Once you have famaliarized yourselves, you will find it a lot easier to remember and play it louder! Try to play as loud as you can when necessary during training and do practise when you can! ASK IF YOU DON'T KNOW HOW TO PLAY ANY PARTS!! You can ask me, Wenxi or Charmaine 'cause we have learnt this part of the sequence before so they can help you all out!!

Updated 31 March 2012
This is the full sequence for the drum beats! Yes practise them until you are very familiar with them and do get the rthymn correct, I know many of you still have doubts about some beats, do ask them around and correct them! All the best! :)

Updated 18 April 2012
This is the complete sequence with the movements added in! Hope that you all will practise and ask if you have any parts that you can't get!

CCA update on 7/7, Thurs
Hello! This post is basically for those people who never attended CCA today and we had updated the CCA with quite a number of things so I think there's a need for me to post what we have talked about on the blog so everyone will have an idea what is going on in CCA.

1. YFC Drum Performance
19(Friday) and 20(Saturday) August, 7.30pm-9pm, dinner is provided
Attire: DALT tee with gong ku, arm bands and head band TBC
We hope that everyone can be involved in both the performances, it would be a good experience so do notify your parents about this drum performance that is coming up. We will pass you all the consent form soon.
There would also be rehearsals when it is nearer to the performance date but the dates are still yet to be confirmed.

2. Extra drum practices on Monday recess
For people who have missed drum practice due to various reasons, there would be a compulsory drum practices during Monday recess outside drum room so that you can keep up with everyone's else standard. Others who are interested are free to join us too.

3. Festival Of Arts Fringe Activity on 15/7
The whole CCA would be participating in the paper making organised by the FOA committee next Friday (15/7) to support our fellow peers and also use this time as a bonding session for everyone. It would be 3pm-5pm.

4. Secondary 4 Step-down on 23/7
The secondary 4s would step down on 23/7, Friday. On 22/7, there would be lion dance training as per normal but we would make use of the last 1 hour of training day to have our hand-over ceremony. On the day, we would announce the results for EXCO'12.
The hand-over ceremony will NOT be a farewell party. A separate farewell party would be organised by the secondary 3s/ EXCO'12 after the hand-over ceremony (discuss with teachers-in-charge).

5. Exco Interview
We have already informed the individual members who have been nominated and selected as EXCO'12 nominees for interviews. The interviews would be held on 11/7 and 13/7, the results of the interview would be announced during the hand-over ceremony on 22/7.

6. Group Photograph
We would take a group photograph tomorrow on 8/7 during CCA hours. :D

Here are the more important things that we have updated the CCA about. Thank you for taking time to read this post. :)

Hello!
This blog post is mainly for people who are interested to know more about lion dance.
http://www.wuzong.com/longshi/index.php

The above website is the website that jiao lian told us about during today's training. The website is mainly about the history of lion dance and dragon dance.

I also happened to chance upon a blog that tells about the difference between 鹤山狮 and 佛山狮.

From: http://liondance360.blogspot.com/

There's also a video of the blogger playing lion dance drum (which is very similar to ours) so if you all are interested you all can watch it. :)

Remember to practice what has been taught during lion dance and drum training today. :) That's all. Thank you!

Hello DALT-ers!
Holiday Trainings
Hope all of you have received the consent forms for holiday trainings (7, 8, 23 and 24 June, 8.30am-3pm). There is gonna be lunch break in between so don't worry that you would go hungry(but lunch is NOT provided, bring your own food or money during training).
Drum Performance
We have been invited by a YFC group in NYGH to perform on 19 and 20 August, 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Nanyang Siew May Auditorium. :) Dinner will be provided. However, the group only requested for 4-5 people to perform (we will request for more people to perform) so not everyone will be involved. I will keep all of you updated with the event through DALT blog or during CCA sessions so keep a look out on DALT blog and stay excited for the event :D.
HCJC Lion Dance Performance
HCJC DALT (our seniors) are going to have a lion dance performance on 19 June (during the holidays) and they need people to help out as cymbal players/ da tou wa wa. (3 cymbal players and 1 da tou wa wa) The rehearsal dates are not set yet but the confirmed ones are gonna be on 15(da tou wa wa) and 17 June (everyone). Do let me know if you are interested in participating by tonight(27 June), 11pm. It is gonna be an interesting and fun experience working with seniors to put up a lion dance performance. :) I will be going for the performance as well so don't worry that you are going to go alone. If nobody sms/ email me to volunteer for the performance, I will have to ask everyone one by one till I get 3 volunteers out for the cymbal players so do volunteer! (But if there's more than 3 people who volunteered, I will have to choose. SORRY!)
CCA Outing
Remember the CCA outing I have talked about during one of the debrief? It is temporarily fixed to be on 21 June but the details have yet to be confirmed so I will let all of you all know again. Just try to keep your schedule on 21 June free so you can join us for the outing. :)

That's all! Enjoy your holidays and see all of you on our first holiday training on 7 June! Thank you very much!

Hello DALT-ers!
Thank you for everyone, the performers and people on shifts, who came back to school on Saturday for Open House! :)
Although the performances were not perfect, I'm sure everyone had put in their utmost effort and I think that's enough. Continue working hard on your drumming, cymbals or lion dancing skills and I'm sure we would reach the perfect state soon. :)
For those new-comers, hoped you all had a fun experience performing on stage and for those "old members" hoped that you all had gained more experience and know more about Open House to prepare for future ones. :)
